Privacy

This is a static website. It has no accounts, no forms that submit anywhere, and we add no cookies, advertising or analytics scripts. Our hosting provider adds one monitoring script, which does set cookies; it is described below.

What you type stays in your browser

The cost worksheet and the directory filters run entirely in your browser. Amounts and choices are never stored on your device beyond the open page and are never transmitted to us or anyone else. The directory reflects your filter choices in the page address (for example ?pet=cats&province=ON) so you can share or bookmark a view; that address contains only our own vocabulary, never anything you typed.

Measurement

The site contains a small first-party event adapter that can count page-level events: a directory filter change, a guide view, a completed worksheet calculation, and a click on a merchant link (recording which merchant and whether the link was a paid affiliate link or an ordinary one). It records no amounts, no free text, no personal data and no identifiers. At the reviewed date it is not connected to any backend and sends nothing anywhere. If we enable delivery, this page will describe the receiving service and what it stores before that happens.

Hosting logs and the provider’s script

Like any website, our hosting provider’s web server may keep standard access logs (IP address, requested page, browser type, time) for security and operation. We do not use them to identify readers.

Host-injected script. Our web host (GoDaddy shared hosting) automatically appends a “traffic and performance monitoring” script to pages served from its servers (tccl.min.js from img1.wsimg.com, which loads a second script and reports to csp.secureserver.net). At our last check it set three cookies on this domain (_tccl_visitor, _tccl_visit, _scc_session). We did not add it, it is not part of our site files, and we receive no data from it; its behaviour is governed by GoDaddy’s privacy policy. We are asking the host to disable it and will update this page when that is done. If you block third-party scripts, the site works exactly the same.

Merchant links

When you follow a link to a merchant, manufacturer or provider marketplace, you leave this site and their privacy policy applies. Links open in a new tab and are ordinary links today; if any become affiliate links they will be marked at the link, and the merchant’s programme may then set its own cookies on the merchant’s site, not on ours.
